We’re excited to roll out one of our biggest updates yet. Whisper Snapper now includes local AI-powered summaries and translations, faster search, and improved accessibility throughout the app.

Local AI Summaries and Translations with Llama 3.2
This is the headline feature. You can now summarize your transcriptions and translate them into 20+ languages—all processed entirely on your Mac using Llama 3.2.
We’ve included three model sizes so you can choose the right balance of speed and quality for your hardware:
- Llama 3.2 1B — Lightweight and fast. Great for quick summaries on any Mac.
- Llama 3.2 3B — The sweet spot for most users. Strong results without heavy resource usage.
- Llama 3.2 8B — Maximum quality for longer or more complex transcriptions.
Just like our local transcription models, you download these once and use them forever. No API keys, no subscriptions, no data leaving your device.
How it works
After your transcription completes, you’ll see new options to summarize or translate. Pick your preferred Llama model, and the results appear in seconds. It’s that simple.

Translate your transcripts to Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and more.
Faster Search
We’ve rebuilt how search works under the hood. Finding specific moments in your transcripts is now noticeably faster—especially helpful if you’re working with long recordings or have a large library of past transcriptions.

Improved Accessibility
We’ve made a pass through the entire app to improve accessibility for users who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies. This includes better labeling, improved focus states, and smoother navigation throughout.
